Histories Today is a free historical reference website that lets you explore significant events, births, and deaths from across the centuries — organised by date, topic, year, decade, and country. Our database contains thousands of curated historical records.

Our data is sourced primarily from Wikipedia, Wikidata, and public-domain historical archives. Each event is reviewed and may be enriched with additional context before publication.

We strive for accuracy, but history is an evolving field. Dates and details reflect the general scholarly consensus at the time of publication. If you spot an error, please use the Submit a Correction tool.

We add and update events regularly. Major milestones and anniversaries are reviewed before their anniversary date.

Histories Today is an independent project built by a small team passionate about making history accessible and engaging for everyone.

The home page automatically shows events, births, and deaths that occurred on today's date throughout history. You can switch between event types using the tabs at the top.

Visit the Birthday Lookup page, enter your birth date, and see all the historical events that share your birthday.

Use the Search page. You can search by keyword, filter by event type, year, and month.

Events are grouped into: Events (world events and milestones), Births (notable people born on that date), Deaths (notable deaths), and Holidays & Observances.

Click the "Suggest a correction" link on any event detail page, or visit our Contact page. We review all submissions.

Yes! Use the Contact form and select "Suggest an event" as the subject. Please include the date, a brief description, and a reliable source.

We aim to review corrections within 2–5 business days. Complex changes may take longer.

Yes, Histories Today is completely free to browse. We display ads to keep the lights on. A premium membership is available for an ad-free experience.
